Every Confirmed GTA VI Gameplay Mechanic: The Complete List

From 700+ enterable buildings to smartphone hacking and dual protagonists — here's every gameplay feature confirmed for GTA VI through trailers, leaks, and official sources.

Grand Theft Auto VI is shaping up to be the most ambitious open-world game ever made. Through two trailers, credible leaks, and official Rockstar communications, we now have a detailed picture of what gameplay will look like. Here's every confirmed mechanic.

Dual Protagonists

GTA VI features two playable characters — Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos — with real-time switching similar to GTA V's three-character system, but more refined:

  • Switch between Jason and Lucia at almost any time during free roam
  • During heists, both characters operate simultaneously with coordinated roles
  • Each character has unique dialogue, interactions, and some exclusive missions
  • A relationship dynamic affects story outcomes
  • World & Interiors

    700+ Enterable Buildings

The single most impressive confirmed feature. GTA VI will have over 700 fully accessible interiors, including:

  • Motels, hotels, and resorts
  • Restaurants and fast food chains
  • Nightclubs and bars
  • Pawn shops and gun stores
  • Shopping malls and supermarkets
  • Auto repair shops
  • Laundromats
  • Banks (also robbery targets)
  • Map Size

Estimated at ~125 km² — nearly twice the size of GTA V's map. The state of Leonida includes:

  • Vice City (Miami) — urban core
  • Leonida Keys (Florida Keys) — tropical islands
  • Grassrivers (Everglades) — swamps and wetlands
  • Port Gellhorn — declining port town
  • Ambrosia — industrial area, motorcycle gang territory
  • Mount Kalaga National Park — wilderness area
  • Combat & Weapons

    Limited Weapon Carry System

A major departure from previous GTAs:

  • Carry only 2 long guns + 2 pistols at a time
  • Additional weapons stored in your vehicle trunk
  • Inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2's realistic approach
  • Forces strategic weapon selection before missions
  • No Dual-Wielding

Only one weapon can be held at a time — no akimbo pistols.

    Revamped Weapon Wheel

    The weapon wheel now includes:

  • Binoculars / telescope
  • Body armor
  • Flashlight
  • Food and drinks
  • Bags (for heist loot)
  • Trauma kit
  • Vehicle Mechanics

    Realistic Driving

  • Heavier, more realistic vehicle handling
  • Enhanced damage model — cars deform realistically
  • Vehicle customization: liveries, body kits, engines, brakes, lights, suspension, transmission, wheels, windows, turbo
  • Possibly mountable weapons/explosives on certain vehicles
  • Expanded Vehicle Types

  • Pickup trucks can carry passengers in the bed
  • Jet skis and airboats for Everglades exploration
  • News helicopters and military vehicles
  • Character Progression

    Physical Fitness (San Andreas Returns)

  • Working out in gyms changes your character's body type
  • Affects stats like stamina, strength, and health
  • Visible physical changes over time
  • Stealth

  • Crouching/sneaking confirmed
  • Prone position (lying down) was removed from the final build
  • Stealth approaches available for many missions
  • Activities

GTA VI includes an enormous variety of activities:

  • Pool/Billiards — playable in bars
  • Boxing — at gyms
  • Tennis — at clubs and resorts
  • Mini-golf — multiple courses
  • Basketball — street courts
  • Gym workouts — affects character physique
  • Racing — street races, boat races, off-road
  • Hunting — in rural Leonida
  • Fishing — with speargun option
  • Off-roading — in the Grassrivers/Mount Kalaga areas
  • Technology

    Smartphone Hacking

Shown in Trailer 2 — Jason uses his phone to:

  • Hack security systems and cameras
  • Bypass electronic locks
  • Access restricted areas
  • This appears to be a core stealth/approach mechanic
  • Social Media Integration

In-game social media system where characters interact, share posts, and react to events.
