Meet Jason & Lucia: GTA VI's Dual Protagonists

For the first time in GTA history, players will control two protagonists simultaneously. Here's everything we know about Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.

Grand Theft Auto VI introduces a franchise first — two playable protagonists whose stories intertwine throughout the game. Meet Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.

Lucia Caminos

Lucia is making history as the first female protagonist in a mainline Grand Theft Auto game. Based on trailer footage, she appears to be a Latina woman involved in the criminal underworld of Vice City. Her character is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the series.

Jason Duval

Jason appears to be Lucia's partner, both romantically and in crime. Their relationship dynamic — inspired by Bonnie and Clyde — is expected to be a central narrative theme.

Dual-Protagonist Gameplay

Building on GTA V's three-character system, GTA VI refines the concept with two characters:

  • Simultaneous play during heists — coordinate between Jason and Lucia for more complex missions
  • Character-specific abilities — each protagonist has unique skills and strengths
  • Intersecting storylines — play different sides of the same events
  • Dynamic relationship — your choices may affect the relationship between the two characters
  • New Character Mechanics

Reports suggest GTA VI will introduce several new character-progression systems:

  • Gyms and fitness — work out to improve physical stats
  • Martial arts — learn combat skills at dojos
  • Underwater exploration — dive and explore the ocean floor
  • Social interactions — deeper NPC relationship systems
  • Why It Matters

GTA has always pushed storytelling boundaries in gaming. By introducing a dual-protagonist system with a female lead, Rockstar is signaling that GTA VI won't just be a technical marvel — it aims to tell a more nuanced, human story than any of its predecessors.
