Take-Two's August 7 Earnings Call Is When We Finally Get Pre-Order Numbers

Every GTA 6 sales figure circulating right now is an analyst estimate. On August 7, Take-Two reports Q1 FY2027 — the first official financials to contain any real pre-order data. Here is what to watch for.

The first hard numbers

Take-Two Interactive reports Q1 FY2027 results before market open on Friday, August 7, 2026, with a conference call at 8:00 a.m. Eastern.

This matters more than a typical quarterly report. The quarter ended June 30, 2026 — which means it captures the pre-order window that opened on June 25. Five days of it, but five days is more than zero, and it will be the first officially audited figure anyone has seen relating to GTA 6 commercial performance.

Why every number you have seen so far is an estimate

To be direct about it: Rockstar and Take-Two have published no GTA 6 pre-order figures. None.

The numbers dominating coverage right now all come from third parties:

Analyst models can be good. They are not accounts.

What Take-Two has actually committed to

Two figures carry real weight, because a public company's guidance carries legal consequences that a blog post does not:

  • FY2026 closed with record net bookings of $6.72 billion — about $750 million above initial estimates, with Q4 at $1.58 billion, beating the top of the $1.51–1.56 billion guidance range
  • FY2027 net bookings guided to $8.0–8.2 billion, explicitly built around a November 19, 2026 GTA 6 launch
  • CEO Strauss Zelnick has framed FY2027 as a turning point, with operating cash flow expected to exceed $1 billion.

Separately, Take-Two reaffirmed the November 19, 2026 date in an SEC filing around July 17 — tied to that same revenue projection. Filings are the strongest form of confirmation available short of the game shipping.

What to watch for on the call

Realistically, here is what is worth listening for, in order of likelihood:

  • 1.Reaffirmation of November 19. Near-certain. Any hedging here would be enormous news.
  • 2.Qualitative pre-order commentary. Expect phrases like "record-setting" or "ahead of expectations" rather than a hard number. Take-Two rarely gives unit figures pre-launch.
  • 3.Deferred revenue movement. This is the sleeper. Pre-orders show up as deferred revenue on the balance sheet — the delta may be the most informative number on the whole report.
  • 4.FY2027 guidance changes. If the $8.0–8.2 billion range moves *up*, that is Take-Two telling you pre-orders beat their own model.
  • 5.Any PC commentary. Unlikely, but a PC version appearing in forward-looking materials would be the strongest signal yet.
  • What almost certainly will not be discussed

  • Exact pre-order unit counts
  • Platform splits between PS5 and Xbox
  • Frame rate or technical specifications
  • Trailer 3 timing
  • Earnings calls are for investors, not for marketing reveals. Rockstar keeps those channels strictly separate.

    One smaller item

Also reported around July 17: GTA 6 will become more expensive in Mexico from August 20, due to PlayStation Store currency conversion changes rather than a Rockstar price adjustment. Worth knowing if you are in that region and have not pre-ordered — the current price is locked in for existing pre-orders.

    The bottom line

August 7 will not give you a clean "X million copies pre-ordered" headline. What it will give you is the first audited, legally-consequential data point in a conversation that has so far run entirely on estimates — plus, most likely, another explicit reaffirmation of the date.

Set an alarm for 8:00 a.m. Eastern.
