GTA 6 Map Explained: Leonida, Vice City and Everything We Know
GTA VI returns to Vice City inside the all-new state of Leonida — the biggest, most detailed open world Rockstar has ever built. Here is a full breakdown of every confirmed region.

Welcome to Leonida
Grand Theft Auto VI is set in the fictional US state of Leonida, a love letter to modern-day Florida. At its heart sits a reimagined, present-day Vice City — the neon-soaked metropolis that last anchored a GTA game back in 2002.
Rockstar has confirmed Leonida is its largest and most detailed open world to date, spanning a dense city, swamps, beaches, keys, and rural backcountry.
Confirmed regions
Based on the official trailers and Rockstar materials, these areas have been confirmed or strongly indicated:
A living, reactive world
The reveal trailers leaned hard on world density: crowded beaches, reactive crowds, dynamic weather, and a level of environmental detail well beyond GTA V. Rockstar has emphasised that NPCs and traffic behave more believably than in any prior game.
How big is it really?
Rockstar has not published a square-mileage figure, and we will not pretend a leak is gospel. What is clear from official footage is that the map combines a major city with large rural and coastal expanses — a structure closer to Red Dead Redemption 2's blend of urban and wilderness than to GTA V's single-city design.
What to keep an eye on
Vice City in modern HD has been a fan dream for two decades. Leonida finally delivers it — and then some.
We keep this guide current as Rockstar confirms new regions and locations.
